United States Launches “Mission to Planet Earth”

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER — March 24 — The United States launched Space Shuttle Mission STS-45, “Mission to Planet Earth” the first international spacelab mission. The Atmospheric Laboratory for Applications and Science (ATLAS-1) involved scientists who gathered new information to gain a better understanding of how the atmosphere reacts to natural and human-induced atmospheric changes.
